Olive Ozoemena

Director of Employment Initiatives

Olive was born and raised in Nigeria, and comes to us with more than 14 years’ experience in two sectors; philanthropy and finance. She earned 2 Master’s degree in Human Resource Development and Business Administration at Rochester Institute of Technology, New York and University of New Brunswick respectively. Olive moved to Canada in 2015, after her MBA program started her career at YMCA Newcomer Connections as the Skills Launch Project Coordinator. She transitioned to a managerial role at the Y as the Manager, Newcomer Programming before joining our team to oversee Skills Launch at a provincial level, managing both the Youth and Adult programs.

Olive is passionate and attracted to initiatives and projects that build a stronger community and promote diversity and inclusion through employment initiatives and economic development. She is a community builder with noted business acumen and a knack for policy development that brings positive impact to newcomer lives in New Brunswick. She has worked in different projects and with several working groups. She is a critical thinker with an innovative spirit. She volunteers her time at the Saint John Theatre Company, YMCA of Greater Saint John, and Member, Board of Trustees with Nigeria Canadian Association of New Brunswick. She speaks Igbo and English.
