Arianne Melara is the Manager of Youth Leadership Initiatives for the New Brunswick Multicultural Council, including the signature youth leadership program Imagine NB. This role includes all areas related to the engagement, empowerment and leadership of immigrant youth and international students.
She was born and raised in El Salvador and is fluent in Spanish, English and French. She arrived to Canada as an international student in 2011 and holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations from St. Thomas University. Her Honours Thesis focused on Globalization and Canadian Mining in Guatemala’s indigenous communities.
Arianne has 5 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector. Before joining NBMC, she worked with the international organization WE.org, supporting experiential service-learning programs with educators and students in Ontario. In New Brunswick, her experience includes managing the Imagine NB program, a bilingual and provincial program designed for immigrant and refugee youth to accelerate their leadership potential.
Arianne Melara is deeply passionate about working with youth. She believes that through the empowerment of youth and by the development of the right policies that include youth’s lens, New Brunswick can become a multicultural province that champions youth. Over the years, she has been involved in community initiatives such as Development and Peace as the Regional Youth Representative and for the Study and Stay NB Program as an International Student Mentor.
