The Skills Launch Immigrant and Refugee Youth Employability Project supports and guides immigrant and refugee youth through a 10-month employability project. It combines occupational and sector-specific orientations, workplace essential skills, and supportive work placements. The program supports young adult newcomers in their process to learn, explore, and succeed in New Brunswick and turn their Canadian job dreams into reality.

Immigrant youth have higher rates of unemployment than their Canadian-born counterparts. They face a host of challenges. Many have had interrupted educations or work histories. They may struggle with a new language and culture.

Designed for the specific needs of newcomers aged 18 to 30, Skills Launch puts its participants on the path to full-time work or further education and training. Over ten months, participants in the full-time program learn about Canadian workplaces and the local labour market, hone their job search and interview skills, study career-focused language, receive wellness coaching and get local work experience through a six-month paid placement.
