We know youth want to imagine New Brunswick in a completely new way. They want equal access to opportunities, they want community connections and networks, and they want to end discrimination, racism and bullying.
New Brunswick needs the dreams and talents of its young newcomers. But, too often, they have lacked support to develop as leaders here. Many leave. Their departure is the province’s loss: when young immigrants go, they take their valuable perspectives and skills with them.
Imagine NB is an intensive, bilingual, intercultural leadership accelerator to support the ideas, talents and passions of immigrant youth. In 2017, the first cohort of 28 teens came together for the first of nine weekend retreats. Their unique personal growth journeys and success stories of immigrant youth empowerment, inclusion and retention are all captured in our 2017-2020 Impact Report.
Imagine NB is THE leadership accelerator for newcomer youth in New Brunswick and is now recruiting for participants! Check out our website for more info and how to apply! Over the year, Imagine NB delegates will participate in a blend of weekend retreats and virtual sessions that explore diverse topics and prominent economic and social sectors in the province. During these sessions, delegates gain leadership skills, learn about New Brunswick’s wealth of opportunities, explore new regions, and work as a team. The program also pairs delegates with a mentor from their community. At the end of the program, they will have created an individual community project and leadership portfolio.
