Jharana Luitel is a recent graduate from the Computer Science Faculty at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). She is originally from Kathmandu, Nepal and currently lives in Fredericton, NB.
Coming to Canada as an immigrant has helped her explore new opportunities where she has been able to showcase her potential. Being a university student helped her to get involved in many rewarding experiences. She has had the opportunity to be the co-founder and President of the first multicultural dance club at UNB – UNB Naach/Dance. The club highlights various cultures represented through the medium of Nepali and Indian dance forms. Her tenure as the Inclusion Representative on the UNB Students’ Union helped her to get involved with campus activities that promoted cultural diversity and inclusivity within the UNB community. Similarly, being part of the International Students Association was a joyful experience for Jharana, as the team was able to host a number of events for international students. Participating in the First Friends program at UNB allowed her to connect with and help settle some international students who were new to the Fredericton community.
