Folusho Iyaniwura is originally from Nigeria. He immigrated to Fredericton, New Brunswick in January 2018. Folusho is a trained lawyer from his home country and has a dual degree in Graduate Certificate in Management (GCM) and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) both from the University of New Brunswick (UNB). Folusho has 15 years banking experience and currently works as a Senior Manager in a Canadian bank.

In 2018, Folusho started an informal peer mentor forum for international students at UNB called “Hangout” to discuss issues they face in integrating into a new society. The forum provided an avenue to promote diversity amongst students from different walks of life.

Since then, Folusho has been involved in many initiatives and events to promote cultural diversity, such as giving a speech on cultural diversity and immigration to mark Black History Month for the New Brunswick African Association, participating in a video series to highlight cultural diversity in support of

Fredericton’s Immigration Month by Ignite Fredericton. Furthermore, he has served as a mentor for the Study and Stay Program by the Population and Growth Division of the Government of New Brunswick to mentor students on their networking and job seeking skills.

Folusho is also a committee member of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce’s Immigration Advocacy Committee where he lends his voice for immigration advocacy on efforts geared towards the retention of newcomers to the province. Everywhere Folusho goes, he does not hesitate to showcase the importance of cultural diversity.
