Nominations for the 2023 Champions for Cultural Diversity Awards (CCDAs) are now closed.
Purpose of the CCDAs
The New Brunswick Multicultural Council (NBMC) recognizes outstanding leaders in cultural diversity from across the province through its Champions for Cultural Diversity Awards (CCDAs). The Champions for Cultural Diversity Awards are part of NBMC’s work in promoting immigration as vital to our province’s future. The CCDAs contribute to a diverse community of champions, and by promoting their stories and demonstrating leading practices in integrating and celebrating newcomers in our province, these champions act as inspirations and models for inclusiveness for all New Brunswickers.
CCDAs Categories and Definition
The CCDAs are designed to align with and reflect NBMC’s mission, values and ongoing initiatives. As we look to add to our growing list of champions and change makers, the 2023 CCDAs categories will be awarded to both an Anglophone and a Francophone individual, business or organization in each of the following categories:
- Presented to an individual, organization or business that has demonstrated outstanding and innovative contributions to facilitating newcomer integration and cultural diversity in their community and/or New Brunswick.
- Example: A non-profit organization that has created a ground-breaking program to address the unique challenges faced by refugees, an entrepreneur who has started a business focused on culturally-specific goods and services.
- Presented to an individual, organization or business that has fostered and enhanced cultural diversity in their community and/or New Brunswick by building bridges between different stakeholders like employers, community organizations, and post-secondary institutions.
- Example: An organization that has implemented a mentorship program connecting newcomers with established community members, a community leader who has organized a series of dialogues between diverse faith groups.
- Presented to an outstanding youth or young adult who has demonstrated initiative, leadership, and commitment towards advancing cultural diversity in their community and/or New Brunswick.
- Example: A youth or young adult who has started an ethnocultural club in their high school or campus, a young adult who has published a book or articles on multiculturalism, immigration and/or cultural diversity.
- Presented to an individual, organization or business that has made a significant impact in advancing cultural diversity, newcomer integration, and multiculturalism in their community and/or New Brunswick.
- Example: A community leader who has organized an annual multicultural festival for the past decade, a business that has implemented a diversity and inclusion strategy resulting in a more representative workforce.
