After more than 6 years, the New Brunswick Multicultural Council (NBMC) is announcing the departure of its Executive Director, Alex LeBlanc.

Effective January 11th, Alex LeBlanc assumed the role of President and CEO of the New Brunswick Business Council (NBBC) and Ginette Gautreau assumed the role of interim Executive Director at NBMC.

I would like to thank Alex for providing outstanding leadership and vision for our sector during a period of historic increases in immigration and a significant boost in public support and engagement in newcomer settlement,” said Moncef Lakouas, President of NBMC. “We are very proud of the work accomplished under Alex’s leadership and we now turn our attention to finding the right executive who can bring the leadership and vision required for NBMC’s next chapter.”

After serving as Assistant Director for more than 3 years, Ginette Gautreau is moving into the interim Executive Director position. “I am very proud to steer NBMC through this leadership transition and ensure our member organizations, government and community partners can continue to rely on the support and leadership from the team at NBMC,” said Ginette Gautreau, interim ED of NBMC. “Immigration continues to be a priority file in the province and we have a number of new and ongoing initiatives to drive forward in the coming months, including our imminent virtual New Conversations Tour and launch of a provincial head start to employment project for newcomers. We look forward to sharing details on these soon.

I want to thank the staff, members, and partners of NBMC for their trust and support during my time as Executive Director, as everything we accomplished was truly a team effort” said Alex LeBlanc, outgoing Executive Director of NBMC. “We have come a long way in New Brunswick, but there is so much work still ahead and I’m absolutely certain that NBMC will continue providing strong leadership as the province and communities progress in their efforts to become more attractive, supportive, and inclusive for newcomers,” said LeBlanc.

NBMC has engaged the recruitment firm, KBRS to assist in conducting an executive search, which will include an open competition. Interested candidates should monitor NBMC’s social media and job boards for further information.
