Clothing Drive a Success!

March 29, 2016

Generous New Brunswickers did more than their best again on March 19! Thank you to all who contributed to our tri-city clothing drive in Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John.

Last Saturday’s effort came together quickly in response to an urgent March 31 deadline, so if you missed the opportunity to contribute, there’s still time! Our #RestoreHope clothing drive will continue until March 30, 2016.

How do your donations help? Thanks to our arrangement with Value Village, NBACL exchanges your donated items for cash, which will be shared with the New Brunswick Multicultural Council (NBMC). NBACL will use our portion of the proceeds to support the many programs and services we offer for New Brunswickers who have an intellectual disability. NBMC’s share will support Syrian refugee resettlement programs coordinated by the Multicultural Associations in Fredericton, Greater Moncton and the Saint John Y’s Newcomer Connections.

For its part, Value Village is further supporting this effort by providing shopping vouchers to each member of Syrian refugee families. This gives the newcomers the dignity of choosing their own items to help them get set up in their new homes.

The need is great for NBACL right now, as it is for the organizations that are working on refugee resettlement. That’s why we’re urging everyone to help by donating gently used clothing, linens, footwear, toys and other useful items.

In Fredericton, donations will be accepted at the NBACL offices at 800 Hanwell Road, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (except holidays).

In Saint John, bring your donation to our Community Collection offices in the Blair Building, 156 Westmoreland Drive, 9 am to 9 pm, Monday to Friday (also excluding holidays).

Donors in Moncton, as well as those in Fredericton and Saint John, can simply mark their bags with an “S” and drop them into any of NBACL’s BOBs (big orange bins).

Once again, Thank You! Merci!
