Immigrant Women's Association of New Brunswick

Having already blazed their own trail, the women who founded the Immigrant Women’s Association of New Brunswick now support and empower other immigrant women who have arrived in our province, providing them with a platform to stand up to violence, discrimination, racism, isolation, and other forms of injustice, and to actively participate in the community.

During this pandemic, many immigrant women found themselves isolated and lacking the support they needed. To ensure they stayed connected and informed, IWANB ran sessions on topics ranging from workplace skills such as employment counselling, résumé writing, and presentation skills through to life essentials such as money management, digital literacy, yoga, and wellness counselling.

The association has liaised with various community organizations in Fredericton to host and participate in events such as Cultural Expression Festival, Love Shouldn’t Hurt Campaign, conferences and meetings to advocate for immigrant women in the province. They even set up a program providing academic support for the women’s children.
